The 2024 Toyota 4Runner is part of the model’s fifth generation, which ran for 15 years. In 2025, the 4Runner will introduce its sixth trim level with exciting updates from bumper to bumper. These improvements range from interior and exterior style enhancements to new performance equipment and next-level features. Performance
In 2024, all of the 4Runner’s trim levels were powered by a V6, 4.0-liter engine. This 270-horsepower unit paired with a five-speed auto transmission. In 2025, this engine is replaced by two new systems. The entry-level powertrain is a turbo inline-four, i-Force 2.4-liter engine with 278 horsepower. There is also a hybrid i-Force engine that produces 326 horsepower. Both are available with an eight-speed auto transmission. The 2025 4Runner rides on a TNGA-F frame for the first time and has a revamped suspension system.
Appearance
The 2025 Toyota 4Runner shares design traits with the Tacoma truck. This SUV boasts three additional inches across the width and a wider track. The wide, flared fenders have well-defined corners. The sides also have edgy, raised definition over the doors. The 4Runner’s hood remains tall, boldly descending into the smaller, reshaped grille. This A-frame grille is mounted over a comparable A-frame fascia. The headlights also have a new look with an upper LED bar and a bent, amber LED bar along the lower section.
Features
The updates to the 4Runner’s interior are comparable to the Tacoma’s cabin, including a large infotainment system screen that rises above the dashboard and redesigned interfaces for the climate control system and push-button ignition. The 2025 4Runner also introduces new fabrics and colors. The SUV continues to be available with a small third row, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, forward collision sensing and avoidance, a blind-spot alert, heated and ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, a JBL audio system, a sunroof, a navigation system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and additional features.
